Residential Support Specialist – Arlington Virginia

Part Time Residential Specialist positions working in a group home in Arlington, Virginia. Experience in Developmental Disability. Weekend hours between 8am – 8pm on Saturday and Sunday; Monday – Friday hours from 5AM – 10AM.

Residential Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the health and safety of all persons in the home. Duties include medication administration, nutritional choices, behavior intervention, daily living, emergency preparedness, socialization skills, and independent living training.

You must successfully complete trainings in First Aid/CPR, MANDT training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree is desirable in social science, psychology and human services. High School diploma required and a minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and development disabilities and/ or college courses relevant to two years and/or degree preferred in education, psychology or related field. Must have the ability to write and speak clearly. Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and capabilities of individuals with development disabilities and inappropriate behaviors. Applicant must have a valid Driver’s license and current DMV driving record in good standing.

Employment Services Coordinator – Fairfax Virginia

Job Discovery Inc. seeks a qualified candidate for a full time Employment Services Program Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

You must have direct care experience supporting people with developmental disabilities.

You must visit each person at their job. Talk to the employer. Provide on the job training. Your job is to monitor and perform activities such as job development, job placement, and assessments.

The Coordinator position will review referrals, assessments; review case notes and prepare monthly billing.

You must have knowledge of human rights, Medicaid Waiver, CARF,

You must attend vendor meetings and participate at job fairs.

You must have experience in Supported Employment.

You must have strong written and verbal communication skills. You must have the ability to write Individual Service Plans (ISP).

You must have the proven ability to supervise staff.

Traveling is required to various locations throughout the Northern Virginia region and Washington D.C. to conduct unannounced site visits.

Salary is based on experience and is negotiable.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • The Employment Services Coordinator position is responsible for the oversight of the individual employment services division of supported employment and staff assignments.
  • Adhere to best practices regarding Individual Employment Services and procedures.
  • Adhere to the agencies personnel and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding (will train) on procedures, documentation, funding levels by the Community Services Boards and the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). Serve as main point of contact with representatives of DARS regarding funding levels. Attend DARS Quarterly and Advisory Board meetings.
  • Responsible for maintaining high level communication with peer positions to coordinate the availability of staff coverage concerning the Employment Specialist’s position assigned to the Individual Employment Services division.
  • Participate in audits and licensing reviews.
  • Monitor and access DARS service authorizations and LTESS funding.
  • Conduct employment search for opportunities in group and Individual Employment services.
  • Oversee authorization requests and approval of additional hours within the individual employment services model utilizing DARS electronic system. Has full responsibility for the development of employment opportunities for individuals referred to the Individual Employment Services model.
  • Ensure employment services reports are in compliance to contractual and regulatory reviews and audits.
  • Focus on employment options for participates in the office setting who have supported employment as their objective for service within community engagement.
  • Provide monthly oversight and review contents of documentation such as quarterly reports and Individual Service Plans to ensure compliance to Licensure, Medicaid Waiver, and CARF Accreditation requirements.
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing trainings to the Direct Support Professionals within the Individual Employment Services. Organize scheduled trainings in a timely fashion to ensure the agency has the capacity to provide the support to the individual served.
  • Monitor services contract and maintain requirements such as billing, situational assessments, job development, case notes, group and Individual placement and training, etc.
  • Ensure proper documentation using the electronic health records data base.
  • Support a small caseload within Individual Employment Services as necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication with persons receiving services and their families.
  • May perform administrative functions such as reviewing time sheets, mileage sheets, annual reporting of activity

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Sociology, Psychology or related areas with a minimum of 2 years direct care experience among individuals with developmental disabilities in a community based supported employment environment. Candidate must have 2 years supervisory experience with direct support professional level. Candidate demonstrates the ability to work among various professionals in the human services field as well as within interagency management and administration. Ability to adhere to personnel and organizational policies and ensure staff is in compliance. Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid Waiver, Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services and Licensing requirements. Participate in training’s to remain proficient in the field of Developmental Disabilities with a concentration in Supported Employment. Candidate has a valid Driver’s license and a current DMV driving record in good standing. Candidate must participate in training’s to remain proficient in the field of Developmental Disabilities with a concentration in Supported Employment.

Must possess the ability to uphold confidential issues and is self-directed, motivated and results oriented.

Employment and Day Specialist – Fairfax/Northern Virginia

Provide ongoing supervision in a supported employment environment. Providing periodic training, situational assessments, advocacy, and other supports needed to maintain individuals in paid employment and integrated community setting. Monitor the development and enhancement of appropriate work habits and behaviors. Orientate the individual to the work site environment, and safety training to prevent accidents on the job and emergency/fire safety training at the site. Assist the individual in developing natural supports and making friends among co-workers at the Host Company.

Provide ongoing supervision in a day support environment. Provide a combination of individualized activities, support, training, and supervision to improve their condition or maintain optimal level of functioning. Assist in the development of functional self-help and daily living skills of self-care and hygiene, eating, and use of the bathroom and community access such as handling money. Assist the individual in the development of task learning skills which improve motor and perceptual skills. Training in appropriate behavior skills; following a formal behavior plan as written by the Behavioral Consultant. Provide training in self-medication as necessary. $13.00-$14.00
